2004 USAW-NJ Mason-Dixon Schoolboy Scholastic Quadrangular Duals

The 2004 Team New Jersey Scholastic Team will wrestle in the Mason-Dixon Quad Tournament, which will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD.

An open letter from John Welch, USAW-NJ State Chairman to all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from USAW-NJ States, as well as all Petitioners:

Congratulations State Place winner (1st through 3rd).

You have qualified to try out for TEAM NEW JERSEY for its scholastic team that will wrestle in the Mason-Dixon Quad Tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2004, at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Team trials dates are set for Thursday, Dec 4, and Tuesday, Dec 9 at 6:00 PM at the University of Princeton, Princeton, NJ. The trials are open to any wrestler in the proper age and weight category who placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the 2002 USAW-NJ Scholastic State Championships this past year at Union / Lakewood. Petitions for outstanding wrestlers (top three from the State Scholastic Championships from any previous year) who did not meet the criteria will be considered by a committee.

Applications for team trial qualifiers and petitioners along with 2 (two) checks (as outlined below) must be postmarked by Monday, November 24, 2003 and sent to:

Mason Dixon Quad Details:

Trials Location: University of Princeton, Princeton, NJ

Trials Dates - two dates depending on weight:

6:00 PM, Thursday, December 4, 2003 for the following weights: 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 140, 165

6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 9, 2003 for the following weights: 65, 75, 85, 95, 105, 115, 130, 150, 185

Competition: 3 rounds of Dual meets with state teams from Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia

Quad Date: Saturday, January 10, 2004 (team departs Friday evening, returns same day (Saturday) at approximately 10pm)

Where: The McDonogh School
, Owings Mills, Maryland

Awards:
Gold, Silver, Bronze medals

Weight Classes:

60  & 65 lbs (must be born 1992 or after)

70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 130, 140, 150, 165, 185 (must be born 1990 or after)

There is a 1 pound weight allowance for both the trials and the Quad competition (weigh ins at both).

Membership:  Wrestler must have current USAW card
